Martin Green

If the scars on Martin's face could tell their own stories what would they say about Martin? If Martin's face could speak without moving his mouth what would we learn about his life? Why does Martin look this way? What happened to his face? He wasn't born with this face. But he will probably die with this face. His face shows the consequence of brutal and devastating action. Was Martin in an accident? Or was Martin in a drama? Welcome to The Scars of Martin Green: Face the Consequences, a podcast written, produced and directed by Ulysses "Butch" Slaughter.

Podcast Prologue

(This is the original prologue to the podcast The Scars of Martin Green: Face The Consequences.)  Martin Green’s face is an explosion of black and blue, blisters, burns and bruises. His face is a catastrophe of cuts, scars and deformities that overlap, criss-cross and twist and tangle the tissue underneath his skin.  His face is the reason for this story. Without the deeply devastating damage to his face, Martin would probably be just another basic Black man battling systemic racism, social stereotypes and pervasive poverty. Without his wickedly wounded face, no one would probably even care what Martin has to say. Because, without this face, there would be a different story. Without this face, there would be a different Martin Green.
