Malachi Meets Miriam

On the morning of November 16, 2015, Miriam Wilson, a 38-year-old mother of three boys, stepped into the street at 54th and Woodland in Southwest Philadelphia. Malachi Armstrong, a 23-year-old contract driver, accidentally struck the woman leaving her dead at the scene. Malachi served four years in prison. He served four years on probation. But none of his time served will bring Miriam back to her children. None of his time served will make up for such a great and painful loss. So what will he do? He will serve Miriam's children.

    Malachi Meets Miriam: at the intersection of fate and destiny is a riveting chronicle of the lives of Malachi Armstrong and Miriam Wilson, as told through the voices of those who knew them before and after the fatal accident that brought them together at a West Philadelphia intersection on November 16, 2015. Miriam was a 38-year-old healthcare worker and mother of three boys when she met Malachi. He was a 23-year-old, homeless contract driver who had been featured by a newspaper in a cover article about poverty in Philadelphia. They came from two different places. But how similar were their lives?

     

    Through the pages of our book, the voices in our podcast and images of our documentary, Malachi Meets Miriam introduces the voices friends, family members, co-workers and teachers who share memories of about the lives of two strangers fated to be forever tied. Malachi's mother and father will speak. We will hear from his friends and teachers. Miriam's friends will speak. But will we hear from the three boys Miriam left behind? Will they care to talk about their mother? Will they want to speak to Malachi?
