Remembering Chester's King

Project type

Group assembly

Date

January 2020

Location

Chester, Pennsylvania

Ulysses "Butch" Slaughter reignited the passion for The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr coordinating hundreds of volunteers in Chester, Pennsylvania where "The Dreamer" spent three years at The Crozer Theological Seminary from 1948 to 1951. In the darkness of environment injustice, high crime and high poverty rates, Ulysses shined a light of hope through two powerful volunteer campaigns aimed at using collective power to bring about community change.
